Management Team

GC management team comprises key persons who combine expertise and experience from various fields of Consulting and Development Project management in the relevant fields.

Setenane Nkopane
Managing Director (SACNASP No: 400022/13)

Setenane has BSc. Honours & MSc. Degrees in Environmental Science and Management from the University of Cape Town. He worked with the Department of Minerals and Energy, Limpopo Province from 1997 – 2005 as Deputy Director: Mine Rehabilitation, and acted as Director: Mineral Development Limpopo Province from 1999 - 2002. His responsibility included: Regulation and assessment of impacts mining operations on the environment in the province; implementation and maintenance of environment systems in mining industry; rehabilitation of land disturbed by mining operations including prevention, control and combating pollution; administration of the EMP approval process, and compliance thereof, and controlling of mine closure. He also worked as Environmental Manager at De Beers, Venetia Mine, South Africa from 2006 - 2008. Venetia Mine was an ISO 14001 certified mine. He is currently the Managing Director of Gudani Consulting (Environmental and Social Scientists), and has undertaken various environmental assessment, socio-economic, rural development and water resource management, public participation and capacity projects in South Africa.

Setenane has offered part-time lecturing at the University of the Limpopo, post-graduate levels for the following courses: Mining Environmental Law, Environmental Management Systems, and Land, Water Resource and Waste Management – 2001-2003 - Faculty of Law; Mining Environmental Law and Management: Faculty of Science – 2001 – 2005.

Setenane is members of the International Association of Impact Assessment – South Africa Affiliate (IAIA-SA), and the IAIA-SA Limpopo Regional Chairperson for 2012 -2014.

Majakate Monnye
Public Participation

Majakate holds NQF Level 7 certificate in Public Participation Process, NQF Level 7 certificate in Social Impact Assessment, NQF Level 7 certificate in Social and Economic Sustainability, NQF Level 7 certificate in Development Planning and Environmental Sustainability all with the University of the Free State (UFS) , NQF Level 7 certificate in Monitoring & Evaluation with the University of Stellenbosch and NQF Level 5 certificate in Project Management with the University of South Africa (UNISA).

He is a public participation and social impact assessment practitioner specialising in the professional services for assessment of potential social impacts, which includes the collection and analysis of data and superimposing a proposed project on such a baseline profile to determine the potential impacts from which mitigation measures can be developed. In total, he has spent approximately six years in the social development field, of which 3 years spent as a public participation consultant. He also specialises in Monitoring & Evaluation and Technical Report Writing (TWR) for civil infrastructure projects since he obtained 2CPD certificate with Insite Systems Training & Education in association with the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE).

Batho Makhakhe
Associate - Socio Economics

Batho has a bachelor of Social Science in Economics and Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He further has a Master of Business Administration from the ALBA Graduate Business School, Greece.

Batho was Project Manager at a multinational consulting firm where he managed and participated in a number of projects – involved in change management, strategy development, business consulting, business analysis and user requirements specification; ERP and Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) implementation experience; Election Management System experience – Republic of Tanzania, Zanzibar & Zambia; Worked on projects in various African countries – Tanzania, Zanzibar, Zambia, Lesotho & Botswana; Set change management standards and methodologies for tendering and project implementation; Business development and identification of opportunities.

He worked as Senior Consult with two other multinational consulting companies in Gauteng, South Africa where his job responsibilities differed from client to client, but centred around developing and enhancing human performance capabilities e.g. competency model development, job evaluation, HR and financial policy development, organisation design and development, training, skills audit & development, business development and identification of opportunities.

Khabane Mothae
Town & Regional Planner

Khabane holds a B.A. – Demography and Human Geography 1994 (NUL), MTRP – Housing and Layout & Subdivision 2001 (UND).He worked for the department of Lands, Surveys and Physical Planning (Local Government) Maseru from 1995. He worked as a senior photogrammetric operator in the surveys section. His main duties were to supervise in the map making and production of the section. Types of maps produced were the 1:50 000 topography maps and 1:2 500 line maps. In 2002 he joined the physical planning department as a physical planner (town planner). He was tasked with the preparation of a number of plans, mainly the regional plan for the mountainous districts of Lesotho, the structure plan for the town of Peka and other local plans. Due to the decentralization process, he was offered a new position in Quthing as a Principal Planner. He supervised junior physical planners in the preparation of district plans, structure plans and local plans. He also offered training to councillors after the first ever local government elections were held in 2005.

Mothae was by virtue of his position, the head of the Quthing District Planning Unit (QDPU). Recently, he has prepared a number of lay-out plans for various local councils. He joined Gudani Consulting in July 2008.

Ivy Takalo
Senior Enviro Officer

Ivy has an Honours Degree in Environmental and Resources studies from the University of Limpopo. She currently employed with Gudani as environmental officer undertaking various environmental impact assessments and management plans for developments such as mines, roads, filling stations, agricultural developments and environmental feasibility studies. She has over 7 years experience in this field.

Elijah Rhulani Monyai
Senior Enviro Officer

Elijah Monyai has BSc. Degree in Environmental Science from the University of Venda. He is currently busy with his BSC Honours in Geography with University of South Africa (UNISA). He worked with the Limpopo water Initiative (Pty) Ltd known as LWI (Environmental Consultant Company) since January 2010 – October 2013 as the Senior Environmental Officer. He is currently the Senior Environmental Officer at Gudani Consulting. He has joined Gudani Consulting in November 2013. He has vast experience in environmental management and assessments, audits, water resource management, social impact assessment and social facilitation process. Elijah is member of the International Association of Impact Assessment – South Africa Affiliate (IAIA-SA), and the IAIA-SA Limpopo Regional Chairperson for 2014 -2015.

Khanyisa Maluleke
Environmental Officer

Khanyisa holds a BSc degree in Environmental Science from the University of Venda. She started at Gudani Consulting on the 01st February 2016 for an internship program. She studied BSc in Environmental Resource Studies and obtained her qualifications during 2014. She is currently the Environmental Officer at Gudani Consulting doing environmental impact assessments for various projects and management plans which include; mining, roads, housing developments and filling stations.
